Pursuit boats
Pursuit boats have been in the boating business for over twenty-seven years. In reality, the person behind Pursuit has been in the business way back in the 1950s. Leon Slikkers was part of the Chris-Craft Company during the 1940s in the joiner department,
making cabinet tops. After work, he would create small runabouts in his garage and this gave birth to a company named “Slickcraft”. In 1955, he decided to sell his home to move to Michigan and he started experimenting with fiberglass. He became successful in creating boats for tough waters and decided to sell his company to AMF in
1969 but stayed as the President. He continued to make creative ideas and so in 1974, he started another venture named S2 Yachts, Incorporated, that focuses on sailboats. In 1977, Pursuit series started and with this, AMF decided to produce the last Slickcraft in 1980. A new plant was built after S2 Yachts, Incorporated bought the Slickcraft brand name and Pursuit became a division under S2 Yachts.
Pursuit boats became widely known in the year 1990. New models were created and it gave Pursuit boats the reputation for producing high class fishing boats. Lots of awards and recognition were given for the high quality of boats created for the Pursuit series. Leon and everybody from his team were given distinction as well. In 1997, Leon was inducted into the Michigan Boating Hall of Fame. Also, in the year 2000, Pursuit became a recipient of the Yamaha’s Sales and Marketing Achievement Award. During this time, it was their fourth time to receive such award.
Sine 1977, Pursuit has been able to make quality boats. In 1992, two boats were introduced. The 2650 Pursuit Center Console was introduced at the annual Dealers Meeting. The second boat, 2655 Pursuit Center Console was named by Boating magazine as "1992 Boat of the Year". Several boats were introduced in the year 1993 and that included 1950 Dual Console, 2150 Dual Console, 2150 Walk-around, 2355 Center Console, 2555 Center Console, 2555 Walk-around, 2855 Express and 3100 Express. Other boats created for Pursuit are Pursuit 3000 Express and Pursuit 2600 Inboard Center Console, which were both introduced at the Miami International Boat show.
Pursuit is still a part of S2 Yacht. The quality of their boats are still at its prime. The boats they make are suitable for a family activity in fishing or if you just wanted to relax with your loved ones. There will always be a Pursuit boat perfect for your needs.
